Rubens à l'honneur en République Tchèque / Rubens honored in Czech Republic

Au tournant des 16èmes et 17èmes siècles, l'empereur Rodolphe II Habsbourg, collectionneur passionné et grand mécène, réunit à Prague la plus riche collection d'art d'Europe dont la renommée dépassait les frontières tchèques.
Mais la guerre de Trente ans a malheureusement dispersé à jamais cette collection. La galerie de peinture du château de Prague ("Pražský hrad") réunit cependant aujourd'hui quelques belles œuvres (400 sont exposées) et en particulier des peintures flamandes du 16ème siècle ou de l'école de Venise (Titien, Tintoret, Véronèse, Rubens...).
La poste tchèque a émis le 28 mai 2014 un timbre consacré à un des tableaux les plus connus du château de Prague, "l'Assemblée des dieux sur le Mont Olympe" par Pierre Paul Rubens (1577-1640).
C'est ce timbre (37 CZK), gravé par Miloš Ondráček, qui figure sur le FDC officiel ci-dessus avec TAD de Prague. 
La gravure à gauche sur cette enveloppe est inspirée d'un autoportrait de Rubens (datant de 1628-1630) conservé à la Rubenshuis d'Anvers.
Rubens, sans doute le plus grand peintre flamand du 17ème siècle, est connu pour ses nombreux portraits mais aussi ses tableaux de grande taille ayant pour thème la religion, la mythologie, ou l'histoire. 
Suite à un voyage en Italie, Rubens a été fortement inspiré par l'oeuvre de Titien.

At the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, the Emperor Rudolph II Habsburg, a great patron and a passionate collector, gathered in Prague the richest European art collection whose fame was known worldwide.
But the Thirty Years War unfortunately dispersed forever this collection. The painting gallery of the Prague Castle ("Pražský hrad") is however gathering today some beautiful works of art (400 are exhibited) and in particular Flemish paintings of the 16th century or of the Venetian School (Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, Rubens...).
The Czech Post has issued on May 28, 2014 a stamp dedicated to one of the most famous paintings of the Prague Castle, the "Assembly Olympian Gods" by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640). 
It is that stamp (37 CZK), engraved by Miloš Ondráček, which appears on the official FDC above with postmarks from Prague. 
The engraving to the left on this envelope is inspired by a self-portrait of Rubens (dating from 1628-1630) kept at the Rubenshuis in Antwerp.
Rubens, probably the greatest Flemish painter of the 17th century, is known for his many portraits but also for his wide format paintings having for theme the religion, mythology or history.
Following a trip to Italy, Rubens was heavily influenced by Titian.
