On the 20th January, 2015 the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic will issue a self-adhesive stamp booklet with 4 different definitive postage stamps with imprinted letter „A“ from the issue „They brought freedom. The  letter „A“ corresponds to the price of an ordinary domestic letter – standard to 50 g in accordance with the Price list of basic postal services in the current version – at present amounting to CZK 13.
On 4 different self-adhesive stamps are depicted these military vehicles: (a) the Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk IXE aircraft, (b) the T-34/76,2 tank, (c) the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and (d) the Jeep Ford GPW car.
Pavel Sivko was born on the 24th January, 1948 in Prague. He studied at the Art School in Prague (1963-67) and at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (1967-73) where he studied applied graphic art and illustration with Professor Jiří Trnka and Professor Zdeněk Sklenář. He worked as an art editor in Mladá Fronta publishing house (1991-97). Since 1997, he has been teaching at Václav Hollar Art School in Prague 3. He mostly concentrates on illustrations, drawings, free and applied graphic art, stamp design and animated film. He lives in Prague.
Václav Zapadlík was born on the 23rd September, 1943 in Prague. He spent the first half of his life as a professional jazz bassist. In the 1960s, he started painting vintage cars. After several years, his drawings attracted the attention of the whole world. He cooperated with the Blackhawk Automotive Museum, a prestigious car museum, his work is exhibited in San Francisco and in Pebble Beach. Since 2010, he has been drawing veteran cars, motorbikes, draisines for Czech Post. The series of booklets “World Cars” and “Czech Cars” based on his drawings became very popular. He lives in Prague.
The author of the graphic design of the tank, motorcycle and of the car is Václav Zapadlík. The author of the graphic design of the aircraft and the graphic arrangement of the booklet is Pavel Sivko.
The stamps, sized 50 x 29 mm  will be printed by the Post Printing House in Prague by multicoloured offset and will be issued in a self-adhesive stamp booklet of two pieces of each stamp.
The front page of the booklet features the same military vehicles as the stamps: the Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk. IXE aircraft, the T-34/76,2 tank, the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and the Jeep Ford GPW car. The booklet contains eight (2x4) stamps. The back page contains texts about the authors and their self-portraits and signatures, a barcode, Czech Post’s logo and hologram used as a security feature.
There  will be 4 First Day Covers incl. commemorative cancellations. In the picture part of the covers are  depicted the same military vehicles as on the stamps: (a) the Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk. IXE aircraft, (b) the T-34/76,2 tank, (c) the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and (d) the Jeep Ford GPW car. The covers are printed by offset in black. On the postmarks are depicted a) the lion emblem and the text: Praha, 20. 1. 2015, b) the tank wheel and the text: Ostrava, 20. 1. 2015, c) the Harley-Davidson logo and the text: Strakonice, 20. 1. 2015 and d) the Jeep logo and the text: Plzeň, 20.1.2015.
The stamps are valid from 20th January, 2015.

Pavel Sivko (*24. 1. 1948, Prag). In den Jahren 1963-67 hat er die Mittlere bildende Fachschule in Prag besucht, in den Jahren 1967-73 hat er im Atelier der angewandten Grafik und Illustration bei Prof. Jiří Trnka und Prof. Zdeněk Sklenář an der kunstgewerblichen Hochschule auch in Prag studiert. In den Jahren 1991-1997 war er bildender Redakteur im Verlag Mladá fronta. Seit 1997 unterrichtet er in der Mittleren Kunstschule von Václav Hollar in Prag 3. In seinem Werk widmet er sich vor allem der Illustration, Zeichnung, der freien und angewandten Grafik, der Briefmarkengestaltung und dem Animationsfilm. Er lebt in Prag.
Václav Zapadlík (*23. 9. 1943, Prag). In der ersten Hälfte seines Lebens war er professioneller Jazzmusiker (Kontrabass). In den 60-er Jahren hat er angefangen alte Autos zu malen und ein paar Jahre danach hat er begonnen sich für seine Zeichenkunst wortwörtlich für die ganze Welt zu interessieren. Er hat mit dem renommierten Automobilmuseum Blackhawk-Automotive Museum zusammen gearbeitet, seine Werke finden wir in den Galerien in San Francisko und Pebble-Beach. Seit dem Jahre 2010 zeichnet er Oldtimer, aber auch Motorräder, und Autos für die Tschechische Post. Er hat vor allem mit den Buchstaben der thematisch konzentrierten Hefte "Weltautos" und "Tschechische Autos" gefesselt. Er lebt in Prag.

Vydání příležitostné poštovní známkyOsobnosti: Vítězslava Kaprálová (1915 - 1940)

Ministerstvo průmyslu a obchodu České republiky vydá dne 20. ledna 2015 příležitostnou poštovní známku nominální hodnoty 17 Kč z emise Osobnosti. Na známce je vyobrazena podobizna Vítězslavy Kaprálové, která je řešena jako klasický portrét malbou v jemných barevných přechodech s akcentem purpurových rtů a hnědých výrazných očí, čímž je podtrhnuta její smyslnost. Jako odkaz na třicátá léta jsou použitá geometrická pole v pozadí a jednom z nich je motiv svlačce, ten v květomluvě znamená "nikdy tě neopustím" - "mne se nezbavíš" - "buďme navždy přátelé". Tím autorka známky odkazuje na přátelství paní Vítězslavy s B. Martinů, J. Muchou a muži jejího života.
Vítězslava Kaprálová byla česká skladatelka a dirigentka, která prožila krátký, ale dramatický život. Narodila se 24. ledna 1915 v Brně, zemřela 16. června 1940 v Montpellier ve Francii. Její tvůrčí činnosti bylo vyměřeno jen několik málo let, přesto složila přes padesát skladeb, včetně orchestrálních. Dokonce měla vybrané libreto na operu, avšak k její realizaci pro vážnou nemoc již nedošlo.
Podstatným vlivem, který působil na její umělecký život, byla skutečnost, že se narodila do hudební rodiny. Otec Václav, žák Leoše Janáčka, byl skladatelem a v Brně založil soukromou Hudební školu. Matka Viktorie byla sopranistkou a učitelkou zpěvu. V devíti až dvanácti letech složila první klavírní skladbičky. Po ukončení základního vzdělání vykonala proti vůli otce přijímací zkoušky na Brněnskou konzervatoř. Jako první dívka si zvolila studijní kombinaci skladbu a dirigování. Její absolventská skladba Koncert pro klavír a orchestr, který si sama řídila, byl brněnskou senzací. Poprvé vystoupila na dirigentský stupínek mladá žena, na tehdejší dobu zcela neobvyklý jev. Po brněnském triumfu odchází dvacetiletá Kaprálová na Mistrovskou školu pražské konzervatoře, kde po dvou letech studií uvádí v Lucerně svoji Vojenskou symfonietu a svými energickými gesty vedla symfonický orchestr České filharmonie.
Rozhodující zlom v životě umělkyně způsobilo její náhodné setkání s Bohuslavem Martinů počátkem dubna 1937. Když Martinů odhalil mimořádný talent skladatelky, vyzval ji ke studiu skladby u něj v Paříži a v dirigování u Charlese Muncha. V červnu 1938 odjíždí Kaprálová do Londýna, aby na Mezinárodním festivalu společnosti pro soudobou hudbu ve velkém sále Queens Hall uvedla Vojenskou symfonietu. Třiadvacetiletá Kaprálová řídila světoznámý symfonický orchestr BBC!  
V době, kdy již Paříž byla ohrožována německými vojsky, lékaři diagnostikovali u Kaprálové tehdy nevyléčitelnou tuberkulózu, na kterou mladá skladatelka 16. června 1940 v jihofrancouzském Montpellieru, kam byla evakuována svým manželem, v pětadvaceti letech zemřela.
V roce 1946 udělila Česká akademie věd Kaprálové členství "in memoriam". V té době se členstvím této instituce mohlo vykázat pouhých deset žen, z celkových 648 členů Akademie. I přes krátký čas, který byl Kaprálové vyměřen, stačila složit na více než čtyři desítky mimořádně hodnotných skladeb. Už za skladatelčina života byla její hudba vysoce oceňována (obdržela řadu ocenění a finančních cen.
Tvorba V. Kaprálové je projevem osobitého talentu, kultivovaného poznáním celé řady soudobých proudů. Metodika potvrzuje moravskou provenienci i slovanskou vřelost.
Autorem výtvarného návrhu emise je akademická malířka a grafička Marina Richterová, autorem liniové kresby a rytiny obálky prvního dne je grafik a rytec Miloš Ondráček.
Známku o rozměrech obrazové části 40 x 23 mm vytiskla Poštovní tiskárna cenin Praha, a.s. plnobarevným ofsetem s liniovou kresbou v tiskových listech po 50 kusech.
Se známkou se vydává obálka prvního dne včetně příležitostného poštovního razítka. V obrazové části obálky je na klaviatuře stejný svlačec - jako její oddanost hudbě. Kontrast poddajných linií svlačce se strohou geometrii klaviatury a geometrii známky má připomínat charakterový rys dirigentky - nezvyklou odhodlanost tvrdě jít za svým cílem a zároveň zůstat v jistých momentech osobního života zranitelná, poddajná a nakonec - podlehnout osudu. Obálka je vytištěna ofsetem v barvě černé. Na razítku je notová osnova se svlačcem - narážka na oddanost komponování a text: Brno, 20. 1. 2015.
Známka má katalogové číslo 832 a platí od 20. ledna 2015 do odvolání.

Briefmarke: das Porträt von Vítězslava Kaprálová, die als klassisches Porträt mit Gemälden in subtilen Farbübergängen mit dem Akzent der purpurroten Lippen und der braunen ausdrucksvollen Augen dargestellt wird, womit ihre Sinnlichkeit unterstrichen ist. Als Hinweis auf die dreißiger Jahre sind die geometrischen Felder im Hintergrund verwendet und auf einem davon gibt es ein Motiv der Winde, die in der Blumensprache "Ich verlasse dich nie" - "Mich wirst du nicht los" - "Seien wir Freunde für immer" bedeutet. Damit weist die Autorin der Briefmarke auf die Ehe von Frau Vítězslava und J. Mucha und ihre Freundschaft zu B. Martinů und auf Männer ihres Lebens hin. 
Ersttagsbrief: Im Bildteil des Umschlages gibt es auf der Klaviatur die gleichen Winde - als ihre Hingabe für Musik. Der Kontrast der geschmeidigen Linien der Winde mit der nüchternen Geometrie der Klaviatur und der Geometrie der Buchstaben soll den Charakterzug der Dirigentin zeigen - eine ungewöhnliche Entschlossenheit hart zu ihrem Ziel zu gehen und gleichzeitig in bestimmten Momenten des persönlichen Lebens verletzlich, schmiegsam zu bleiben und zum Schluss - dem Schicksal unterliegen. Auf dem Stempel gibt es das Liniensystem  der Winde - eine Anspielung an die Hingabe des Komponierens und den Text: Brünn, 20. 1. 2015.

PERSÖNLICHKEITEN: VÍTĚZSLAVA KAPRÁLOVÁ (1915-1940)
Vítězslava Kaprálová war eine tschechische Komponistin und Dirigentin, die ein kurzes, aber dramatisches Leben erlebt hat. Sie ist am 24. Januar 1915 in Brünn geboren, am 16. Juni in Montpellier in Frankreich gestorben. Ihrer gestalterischen Tätigkeit wurden nur ein paar Jahre ausgemessen, trotzdem hat sie über fünfzig Kompositionen geschaffen, einschließlich der Orchestralen. Sie hat sogar ein Libretto für eine Oper ausgewählt, ist jedoch zu seiner Verwirklichung wegen ihrer schweren Krankheit nicht mehr gekommen. 
Der grundsätzliche Einfluss, der auf ihr künstlerisches Leben gewirkt hat, war die Tatsache, dass sie in einer musikalischen Familie geboren ist. Ihr Vater Václav, Schüler von Leoš Janáček, war Komponist und in Brünn hat er eine private Musikschule gegründet. Ihre Mutter Viktorie war Sopranistin und Gesangslehrerin. Von ihrem neunten bis zu ihrem zwölften Lebensjahr hat sie ihre ersten Klaviermusikstücke komponiert. Nach Abschluss der Grundausbildung hat sie gegen den Willen ihres Vaters die Aufnahmeprüfungen an dem Brünner Konservatorium abgelegt. Als erstes Mädchen hat sie die Studienkombination Komposition und Dirigieren ausgewählt. Ihre Abschlusskomposition, ein Konzert für Klavier und Orchester, das sie selbst dirigiert hat, war eine Brünner Sensation. Zum ersten Mal ist auf das Dirigentenpodium eine junge Frau getreten, für die damalige Zeit ein ungewöhnliches Phänomen. Nach dem Brünner Triumph geht die zwanzigjährige Kaprálová auf die Meisterschule des Prager Konservatoriums, wo sie nach zwei Studienjahren in Lucerna ihre Militärsinfonietta aufführt und mit ihren energischen Gesten das Sinfonieorchester der Tschechischen Philharmonie dirigiert hat.
Die entscheidende Wende im Leben der Künstlerin hat ihre zufällige Begegnung mit Bohuslav Martinů Anfang April 1937 verursacht. Als Martinů das außergewöhnliche Talent der Komponistin entdeckt hat, hat er sie zum Studium der Komposition bei ihm in Paris und im Dirigieren bei Charles Munch aufgefordert. Im Juni 1938 fährt Kaprálová nach London, damit sie das Festival der International Society for Contemporary Music im großen Saal der Queens-Hall mit ihrer Militärsinfonietta eröffnet hat. Die dreiundzwanzigjährige Kaprálová hat das weltbekannte BBC Symphony Orchestra dirigiert!
In der Zeit, als Paris schon von deutschen Truppen bedroht wurde, haben die Ärzte bei Kaprálová damals eine unheilbare Tuberkulose diagnostiziert, an der die junge Komponistin am 16. Juni 1940 im südfranzösischen Montpellier, wohin sie von ihrem Mann evakuiert wurde, mit fünfundzwanzig verstorben ist. 
Im Jahre 1946 hat die Tschechische Akademie der Wissenschaften (an) Kaprálová die Mitgliedschaft "in memoriam" verliehen. Zu der Zeit konnten sich mit der Mitgliedschaft dieser Institution nur zehn Frauen ausweisen, von den 648 Gesamtmitgliedern der Akademie. Auch trotz der kurzen Zeit, der Kaprálová ausgemessen wurde, hat sie es geschafft, mehr als vier Zehnte der außergewöhnlich wertvollen Musikstücke zu komponieren. Bereits während ihres Lebens der Komponistin war ihre Musik hoch geschätzt (sie hat eine Reihe von Auszeichnungen und finanziellen Preisen erhalten). 
Die Gestaltung von V. Kaprálová ist ein Ausdruck des unverwechselbaren Talentes, kultiviert mit dem Kennenlernen einer breiten Palette von zeitgenössischen Strömungen. Die Methodik bestätigt die mährische Provenienz und die slawische Freundlichkeit.

PERSONALITIES: VÍTĚZSLAVA KAPRÁLOVÁ (1915-1940)

On the 20th January, 2015 the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic will issue a commemorative postage stamp in the denomination of 17 CZK from the issue of Personalities. On the stamp is a portrait of Vítězslava Kaprálová designed as a classic painting with smooth colour transitions and an emphasis on her purple lips and distinctive brown eyes underlining her sensuality. The geometric fields in the background refer back to the 1930s. Bindweed, used as a motif in one of them, means in the language of flowers “I will never leave you” or “You will never get rid of me” or “Let us be friends for ever”. It was chosen by the stamp designer to refer to the marriage of Vítězslava Kaprálová and Jiří Mucha and her friendship between Bohuslav Martinů and other men in her life.
Vítězslava Kaprálová was a Czech composer and conductor whose life was short but dramatic. She was born on the 24th January, 1915 in Brno and died on the 16th June, 1940 in Montpellier, France. Although she had only a few years as an artist, she was able to create more than fifty compositions including orchestral music. She had also chosen an opera libretto, but was unable to compose the opera due to her terminal illness.
She was born into a family of musicians, which had a major influence on her life as an artist. Her father Václav, who studied with Leoš Janáček, was a composer and founder of a private music school in Brno. Her mother Viktorie was a soprano singer and music teacher. Vítězslava composed her first piano compositions at the age of nine to twelve years. Against her father’s will, she passed the entrance examination to the conservatory in Brno after finishing the primary school. She was the first girl who selected the study course of composition and conducting. Her graduation composition “A Concerto for Piano and Orchestra” caused a sensation in Brno. It was premiered by herself, and the sight of a young woman conducting an orchestra was absolutely unique at that time. Following her triumf in Brno, Kaprálová, aged twenty, continued her studies at the master school of Prague Conservatory. Her “Military Sinfonietta”, composed by her after two years of study, was performed by the symphony orchestra of the Czech Philharmonic at Lucerna Hall in Prague; the orchestra was energetically conducted by herself.
In the early April of 1937, she incidentally met Bohuslav Martinů. This was to become the key moment of her life as an artist. Martinů discovered her extraordinary talent as a composer and invited her to Paris to study composition with him and conducting with Charles Munch. In June 1938, Kaprálová went to London to perform her Military Sinfonietta at the International Festival of the International Society for Contemporary Music Festival. Aged only twenty-three, she conducted the world famous BBC Symphony Orchestra.
At the time when Paris was already threatened by German troops, Kaprálová was diagnosed with the then incurable tuberculosis. On the 16th June, 1940, the composer, aged twenty-five, died in Montpellier in southern France where she had been evacuated by her husband.
In 1946, she received membership in memoriam from the Czech Academy of Sciences. At that time, only 10 out of the total 648 members of the Academy were women. Despite the short time she had as a composer, Kaprálová created more than forty extraordinary compositions. She received many awards and prizes already during her life for her highly appreciated music.
Her music is an expression of a unique talent cultivated by her knowledge of many contemporary trends. Her method displays elements of her Moravian origin and Slavic warmth.
The author of the design of the issue is the academic painter and graphic artist Marina Richterová, the linear drawing and engraving of FDC are the work of the graphic artist and engraver Miloš Ondráček.
The stamp, sized 40x23 mm  has been printed by the Post Printing House in Prague by multicoloured offset with linear drawing in printing sheets of 50 pcs. 
There will be 1 First Day Cover incl. commemorative cancellation. In the picture part of the cover is bindweed on a piano keyboard as a symbol of her dedication to music. The contrast of the pliant lines of bindweed and the strict geometry of the keyboard and the stamp refers to the composer’s character combining her unique determination to push ahead with her work and her ability to remain, in certain moments of her private life, vulnerable, soft and, eventually, to succumb to her fate. The cover is printed by offset in dark-brown. On the postmark is a musical staff with bindweed, referring to the composer’s dedication to composition and the text: Brno, 20.1.2015
The stamp is valid  from 20th January, 2015.

Briefmarke: ein Porträt von Oldřich Kulhánek, einem weiteren bedeutenden Schöpfer von Briefmarken, geschaffen mit der Bemühung sich an ein ähnliches  Prinzip der Darstellung zu halten, das er selbst verwendet hat. Der Fokus wird also auch auf nicht gerade schmeichlerische Details gelegt, aber damit es den Ausdruck des "ermüdeten Philosophen" unterstützt.
Heftchen: 8 Briefmarken mit 4 Zierfeldern (Heftchenblatt). Das Zierfeld ist in der Größe der Briefmarke, wo das deformierte Porträt von Stalin als Hinweis auf Kulháneks Grafiken aus dem Jahre 1968 dargestellt ist, für die er verfolgt wurde. Das zweite Motiv ist aus dem sarkastischen litographischen Zyklus namens "Funnymoney" übernommen. Die Komposition beendet die Verflechtung der Hände, die Kulhánek oft in verschiedenen symbolischen Bedeutungen verwendet hat. Das Passwort Theatrum-Mundi“ (Theater der Welt) hat die Theoretikerin Eva Petrová zur Bezeichnung der Kulháneks metaphorischen Aussage über den Zustand der derzeitigen Welt benutzt.
Ersttagsbrief: das Motiv einer Hand, die zum Zeichnen vorbereitet ist. In drei Kreisausschnitten ist die  Bemühung zusammengefasst in Andeutungen der riesigen Breite von Kulháneks Gestaltungen zusammenfassen: Verantwortliche Arbeit an den offiziellen staatlichen Aufgaben, freie Gestaltung von den kaleidoskopisch behandelten Visionen der "neuen Figuration" bis zu syntetischen Kompositionen von nackten Körpern, die die menschliche Determination symbolisieren. Im Stempel ist das Profil O. K. mit einem Lorbeerkranz als Abzeichen der Ehre und den Text: Praha, 20. 1. 2015.

TRADITION DER TSCHECHISCHEN BRIEFMARKENGESTALTUNG: OLDŘICH KULHÁNEK (1940-2013)
Oldřich Kulhánek gehört zu den weltanerkannten Künstlern. Er ist am 26. Februar 1940 geboren und am 28. Januar 2013 gestorben. Er hat mit bildenden Studien in der Bildenden Schule in Prag begonnen und ab dem Jahre 1958 hat er an der kunstgewerblichen Hochschule in Prag im Atelier von Professor Karel Svolinský studiert. Die Lehrjahre in der Schule die unter seiner Führung verbracht wurden, wurden Grundlage seiner künstlerischen Karriere. 
Seine Arbeit wird vor allem auf Grafik und Zeichnung konzentriert. Er hat gleichfalls an den Entwürfen der neuen tschechischen Banknoten gearbeitet und ist Autor von zahlreichen tschechischen Briefmarken. 
Im Jahre 1971 wurde er von der Staatspolizei verhaftet und beschuldigt, dass er mit seinen grafischen Blättern die Vertreter der kommunistischen Länder geschändet hat (womit das Gesicht von Stalin in einigen seiner grafischen Blätter gemeint wurde).
Die siebziger Jahre sind in seinem Werk im Zeichen des totalen Verbotes der Ausstellungen, Verbotes der Zusammenarbeit mit Verlagen und des Verbotes der Publizität. Dank einer Reihe seiner Freunde aus den USA, Holland, Belgien, Deutschland, Österreich und Frankreich hat er jedoch den Kontakt mit der bildenden Szene Europas nicht verloren. Nach dem Zusammenbruch des kommunistischen Regimes im Jahre 1989 hat sich die Situation in der Tschechoslowakei, später in der Tschechischen Republik geändert. Im Jahre 1990 har er zum ersten Mal die USA anlässlich eines Lithographic Workshops in Los Angeles besucht. Ab dieser Zeit hat er die Staaten mehrmals besucht. Im Sommer 1991 hat er das Seminar über die Zeichnung im Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrne-Beach geführt. Im Jahre 1995 hat er an der University of Houston-Clear-Lake in Texas gastiert.
In der Tschechischen Post (Česká pošta, s.p.) war er Vorsitzender der Kommission für bildende Lösungen der Briefmarken.

THE TRADITION OF CZECH STAMP DESIGN: OLDŘICH KULHÁNEK (1940-2013)

On the 20th January,  2015 the Ministry of  Industry and Trade  of the Czech Republic will issue a  commemorative  postage stamp in the denomination of 13 CZK The Tradition of the Czech Postage Stamp Design commemorating this year another significant author of postage stamps – the academic painter and graphic artist Oldřich Kulhánek. The stamp shows a portrait of  Oldřich Kulhánek based on the same imaging principle as the one used by Kulhánek. This means that attention is paid also to details that do not compliment but emphasize the image of a “tired philosopher”.
Oldřich Kulhánek is a world famous artist. He was born on the 26th February, 1940 and died on the 28th January, 2013. He started to study arts at the Art School in Prague and since 1958 he continued his studies at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the class of Professor Karel Svolinský. The years spent with this teacher laid down the basic foundation for Kulhánek’s career as an artist.
Kulhánek mostly concentrated on graphic art and drawings. He also designed the new Czech banknotes and many Czech postage stamps.
In 1971, he was arrested by Czech secret police and charged with disparaging representatives of Communist countries (a reference to the portrayal of Stalin in some of Kulhánek’s graphic sheets).
This led to a total ban on exhibiting his works, co-operating with any publishers or using any publicity in the 1970s. In spite of the ban, he used numerous friends in the United States, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and France to stay in touch with Europe’s art scene. The situation changed after the 1989 fall of the Communist regime in the then Czechoslovakia, later in the Czech Republic. During his first visit to the United States in 1990, Kulhánek attended the Litographic Workshop in Los Angeles. A number of visits to the United States followed. He led the drawing workshop in the Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrne Beach in the summer of 1991. In 1995, he stayed at the University of Houston, Clear Lake, Texas. He chaired the Stamp Design Board of Česká pošta, s.p.
The author of the design of the issue is the academic painter and graphic artist Jan Kavan, the author of engravings is the graphic artist and engraver Miloš Ondráček.
The stamp, sized 40 x 23 mm and the coupon sized 19 x 23 mm has been printed by the Post  Printing House in Prague by rotary recess print in black combined with photogravure in red and azure-blue in printing sheets of 30 pcs.  Besides the stamps in sheet arrangement, also philatelic booklets of 8 stamps and 4 coupons are issued. The coupon relates to the motif of the stamp with a deformed image of Stalin, which refers to the 1968 graphic design that led to Kulhánek’s persecution. The other motif comes from his sarcastic lithographic “Funny Money” series. The final part of the composition is a drawing of intertwined hands often used by Kulhánek to express various symbolic meanings. The slogan “Theatrum Mundi” (Latin for the theatre or rule of the world) was used by theorist Eva Petrová to refer to Kulhánek’s metaphoric description of the condition of today’s world.
There  will be 1 First Day Cover incl. commemorative cancellation. The picture part of the cover features the motif of a hand ready to draw. The three segments of a circle try to cover the immense extent of Kulhánek’s art including the challenging work on official government’s jobs and the free-lance work on his kaleidoscopic visions of “new figuration” up to the synthetic compositions of naked bodies symbolising human determination. The cover has been  printed by recess print from flat plates in  black. The handstamp shows a side face of Oldřich Kulhánek wearing a laurel wreath as a badge of honour and the text: Praha, 20.1.2015.

Co můžete vidět na chystané 53. výstavce? (1.)

Vydání příležitostné poštovní známky "Tradice české známkové tvorby: Oldřich Kulhánek (1940 - 2013)".
Ministerstvo průmyslu a obchodu České republiky vydá dne 20. ledna 2015 příležitostnou poštovní známku nominální hodnoty 13 Kč Tradice české známkové tvorby, která v tomto roce připomíná dalšího významného tvůrce poštovních známek - Oldřicha Kulhánka. Na známce je vytvořen jeho portrét se snahou držet se podobného principu zobrazování, jaký používal on sám. Důraz je tedy kladen i na ne zrovna lichotivé detaily, ale tak aby to podpořilo výraz "znaveného filozofa". 
Oldřich Kulhánek patří ke světově uznávaným umělcům. Narodil se 26. února 1940, zemřel 28. ledna 2013. Výtvarná studia začal na Výtvarné škole v Praze a od roku 1958 studoval na Vysoké škole uměleckoprůmyslové v Praze v ateliéru profesora Karla Svolinského. Učednická léta strávená na škole pod jeho vedením se stala základem jeho umělecké kariéry.
Jeho práce je zaměřena především na grafiku a kresbu. Pracoval rovněž na návrzích nových českých bankovek a je autorem mnoha českých poštovních známek. 
V roce 1971 byl zatčen StB a obviněn, že svými grafickými listy hanobil představitele komunistických zemí (čímž byla míněna tvář Stalina v některých jeho grafických listech). 
Sedmdesátá léta jsou v jeho tvorbě ve znamení totálního zákazu výstav, zákazu spolupráce s nakladatelstvími, zákazu publicity. Díky řadě přátel z USA, Holandska, Belgie, Německa, Rakouska a Francie však neztrácel kontakt s výtvarnou scénou Evropy. Po pádu komunistického režimu v roce 1989 se situace v Československu, později v České republice změnila. V roce 1990 poprvé navštívil USA při příležitosti Lithographic Workshop v Los Angeles. Od té doby Státy navštívil vícekrát. V létě 1991 vedl seminář o kresbě v Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrne Beach. V roce 1995 hostoval na University of Houston-Clear Lake v Texasu.  
Na České poště, s.p. byl předsedou Komise pro výtvarné řešení poštovních známek. 
Autorem výtvarného návrhu emise je akademický malíř a grafik Jan Kavan, autorem rytin je grafik a rytec Miloš Ondráček.
Známku o rozměrech obrazové části 40 x 23 mm a kupon o velikosti 19 x 23 mm vytiskla Poštovní tiskárna cenin Praha, a.s. rotačním ocelotiskem v barvě černé kombinovaným hlubotiskem v barvách červené a azurově modré v tiskových listech po 30 kusech. Kromě známek v archové úpravě se vydávají filatelistické sešitky s 8 známkami a 4 kupony. Kupon pokračuje z formátu známky, kde je vložena deformovaná podoba Stalina jako odkaz na Kulhánkovy grafiky z roku 1968, za které byl perzekuován. Druhý motiv je převzat ze sarkastického litografického cyklu nazvaného "Funny money". Kompozici dotváří pletenec rukou, které Kulhánek často používal v různých symbolických významech. Heslo "Theatrum Mundi" (Divadlo světa) používala teoretička Eva Petrová k označení Kulhánkovy metaforické výpovědi o stavu současného světa. 
Se známkou se vydává obálka prvního dne včetně příležitostného poštovního razítka. V obrazové části obálky je zobrazen motiv ruky připravené ke kreslení. Ve třech kruhových výsečích je shrnuta snaha postihnout v náznacích obrovskou šíři Kulhánkovy tvorby: zodpovědnou práci na oficiálních státních úkolech, volnou tvorbu od kaleidoskopicky pojednaných vizí "nové figurace" až po syntetické kompozice nahých těl, symbolizujících lidskou determinaci. Obálka je vytištěna ocelotiskem z plochy v barvě černé. V razítku je profil O. K. s vavřínovým věncem jako odznakem pocty a text: Praha, 20. 1. 2015.
Známka má katalogové číslo 831 a platí od 20. ledna 2015 do odvolání.

Na reprodukci je vidět část nátiskového archu v momentě schvalování tisku (imprimatur). Horní část bude oddělena pro potřeby klasického (vlepovaného) známkového sešitku. Spodní část bude k dispozici v podobě přepážkových archů. Na 53. výstavce v úterý 20. ledna 2015 bude vystaven celý arch.

Pošta na Havlíčkobrodsku a známky

16. 1. až 29. 3. 2015 (vernisáž 16. 1. od 17:00) v budově Muzea Vysočiny Havlíčkův Brod.
Zveme Vás na výstavu, která se bude zabývat světem poštovnictví a filatelie. V první řadě návštěvník uvidí vznik a vývoj poštovnictví s důrazem na okres Havlíčkův Brod. Díky vřelé spolupráci s Poštovním muzeem a Státním okresním archivem Havlíčkův Brod budete mít možnost spatřit exponáty a fotografie, které s regionem přímo i nepřímo souvisí a ukazují poštovnictví v celé jeho staleté kráse. 
Druhá část výstavy pak ukáže téma, které je s poštovnictvím nerozlučně spojené – známky. Jde o disciplínu natolik zajímavou a detailní, že vytváří bez nadsázky svůj vlastní svět. Naleznete zde popis tvorby známek, ukázku nejvzácnějších kousků, známku jako samostatné umělecké dílo a také známky se vztahem k regionu. Známky jsou ze sbírek Ing. Františka Morávka z Pohledi, který je autorem celé výstavy a sběratele Karla Palána.
František Morávek se zaměřuje na tzv. geografilatelii. Jde o moderní směr sbírání dle známkových území, tj. oblastí, které vydávaly vlastní známky v průběhu své existence. Tento obor logicky vede jedince ke znalosti nejen samotných známek, ale též geografie a historie jako přirozených součástí zájmu. Proto zde uvidíte úžasné zastoupení zemí současných (Indie, Írán, Vietnam,…) i jejich předchůdců (Rajastán, Persie, Jižní Vietnam…).
Součástí výstavy je také pamětní list a příležitostné razítko, které budou k dispozici v omezeném množství během vernisáže. Příležitostné razítko bude ještě k dispozici u přepážky pošty Havlíčkův Brod 2 ve dnech 19. - 21. 12. 2014. Během celé výstavy bude pro nejmenší k dispozici dětská poštovní přepážka, doprovodný program přednášek o filatelii a divadlo s Pošťáckou pohádkou od Karla Čapka.

Výstavy Adolf Born a Pošta za Velké války ve Svitavách lákaly

V neděli 4. ledna skončily v Městském muzeu a galerii ve Svitavách výstavy zapůjčené z Poštovního muzea Adolf Born aneb jak vzniká poštovní známka a Pošta za Velké války. U veřejnosti se přitom setkaly s velkým zájmem.
Od 25. září, kdy byly obě výstavy slavnostně zahájeny, je až do konce roku 2014 navštívilo 3 279 platících a cca 860 neplatících návštěvníků. Výstava Pošta za Velké války ze Svitav putuje dále do Oblastního muzea v Litoměřicích, kde se na ní všichni návštěvníci mohou těšit od 3. února do konce března.
