Avec František Drtikol, Josef Sudek, Jaroslav Rössler ou Eugen Wiškovský, Jaromír Funke (1896-1945) fait partie des personnalités tchèques de l'avant-garde photographique de l'entre-deux guerres...
Alors que la France, l'Allemagne et la Russie sont considérées comme les principaux centres de la photographie à cette période, la Tchécoslovaquie voit elle aussi naître de nombreux travaux importants et originaux qui ont alors largement contribué au développement de l'art de la photographie.
C'est certainement ce que la poste tchèque a voulu rappeler en émettant dans sa série "Arts", le 5 novembre 2014, un timbre spécial reproduisant une photographie de Jaromír Funke intitulée "Solitude et Spectacles", prise vers 1924.

While France, Germany and Russia are considered as the main centers of photography at that time, Czechoslovakia known also many important and original works having greatly contributed to the development of the art of photography.
This is certainly what the Czech Post wanted to remind us by issuing in its "Arts" series on November 5, 2014, a special stamp reproducing a photograph by Jaromír Funke entitled "Solitude and Spectacles", taken around 1924.
