Issue of the definitive literal postage stamp „A“ EASTER
On the 4th March, 2015 the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic will issue a definitive postage stamp Easter with imprinted letter „A“. The letter „A“ corresponds to the price of an ordinary domestic letter – standard to 50 g in accordance with the Price list of basic postal services in the current version – at present amounting to CZK 13.
On the stamp is depicted a hare as a waiter carrying eggs on a tray and holding a braided whip made of pussywillow twigs Easter belongs to the most popular holidays in a large part of the world. It celebrates spring with the awakening of nature, its fertility, hope and love. Different villages boast different Easter customs and traditions that used to spread over the entire six-week Easter period. The aim was to get rid of everything old, to clean the house and cure the body to make them ready for the rebirth of nature.
Easter is a moveable feast that falls on a different date every year - always on the first Sunday after the first Spring Full Moon. If the first Spring Full Moon falls on a Sunday, Easter is celebrated the next Sunday. This means that Easter Monday may fall on any day between the 23rd March and the 26th April.
The author of the graphic arrangement of the issue is the academic painter and graphic artist Jiří Slíva.
The stamp, sized 23 x 30 mm has been printed by the Post Printing House in Prague by multicoloured offset in printing sheets of 50 pcs.
There will be 1 First Day Cover incl. commemorative cancellation. In the picture part of the cover is depicted a baby chick hatching from its egg and painting another Easter egg. The cover is printed by multicoloured offset. On the postmark is an Easter egg and the the text: Kraslice, 4. 3. 2015
The stamp is valid from 4th March, 2015.
